1. What is the difference between IBTC and Time Shares (Resort Condominium International (RCI), Club Mahindra, Royal Goan Beach Club,Sterling Resorts etc.)

Ans.

A. The time share concept is connected only with resorts for holidays. IBTC is connected with resorts as well as with business hotels situated in the heart of the city.IBTC is connected with Car Rentals, hotel packages, Overseas Mediclaim and a lot of other privileges.

B. Time shares have high season and low season. IBTC has no high season and no low season. You get a guaranteed 50% discount all year round, which goes upto 90% off.

C. Time shares companies do not offer hotel packages. They offer only stay. IBTC offers hotel packages, which include pick up and drop to the airport / railway station, all meals, sight seeing etc.

D. Time Share properties are only found in remote areas. IBTC is affiliated with some of the finest brands in the world.

E. For the membership of Time Shares, one pays a big lump sum. For the membership of IBTC one pays a reasonable amount of Rs. 11,000 whereby one gets a guaranteed 50% discount in 5000 hotels worldwide which goes upto 90% off.

F. Time Shares is not reliable as there are many time shares companies who have not survived the test of time. IBTC has been in India since 1987 and under the Law of averages since IBTC has been operational for 17 years, one can be sure IBTC shall be around for the next 3 years.

G. With Time Shares one cannot accumulate one’s stay at one shot. Through the membership of IBTC one can accumulate one stay as there is no question about the amount of room nights one can stay as long as the member has a balance in his account.

H. One can transfer the coupons of Time Shares by paying a nominal fee. One cannot transfer the IBTC membership.

I. Since the Time Share companies have taken membership fees from the public and have not kept their resorts and those who have invested in such companies have found themselves to have invested their money in the wrong place. However, with IBTC you will find there is no question of having invested your money in a wrong place because IBTC does not manage these hotels and resorts. These hotels and resorts are managed by some of the most reputed companies in the world.

2. How many countries is IBTC situated in ?

Ans. IBTC has its presence in 75 countries worldwide.

3. Do the hotels really give a 90% off ?

Ans. No, the hotel do not give a 90% off.

4. What is the IBTC Silver concept based on ?

Ans. The IBTC Silver concept is based on the concept of mutuality.

5. What is the concept of Mutuality ?

Ans. Every IBTC Silver member does not travel at the same point of time. The IBTC Silver member pays an amount upfront for this membership for 3 years alongwith their registration fees. This amount is pooled together to pay your room rent or other. facilities such as Car rentals or restaurant discount where by giving a guaranteed 50% discount all year round which goes upto 90% off.

6. What is Subsidized hospitality ?

Ans. Subsidized hospitality is not connected with all the hotels in the IBTC Silver list. Therefore if you call the hotels they will say they are not giving a 50% discount. As far as the IBTC Silver card is concerned if the hotels were to offer a 50% discount, you would receive subsidized hospitality since they would have to cut certain essential perks without your knowledge. After all the hotels are not charitable institutions. The average room revenue required for the hotels to run do not allow the hotels to give a 90% discount or a 50% discount.

7. Is there any similarity between the Insurance concept and the IBTC Silver concept ?

Ans. The IBTC Silver concept does have a similarity with the Insurance concept. Life Insurance concept is based on the pretext that every one cannot die at the same point of time. Medical Insurance is based on the concept that not everyone can get sick at the same point of time.In a similar manner not everyone can travel at the same point of time.

8. What is the difference between loyalty programmes like the Taj Innercircle,Le Meriden Moments, Connections of Oberoi, Hilton Honours,Priority Club of Holiday Inn and IBTC?

Ans. IBTC doesn’t ask the members to stay a certain number of room nights at IBTC properties whereby IBTC shall give you a certain amount of points whereby the member shall then get a room night free. IBTC gives you one room night free for every room night you stay. The concept of buy one and you get one room night free is what IBTC Silver is all about and more. In fact if you are a member of any of the Clubs of the various hotels you could earn the various points of these loyalty programmers too in additional to the IBTC Silver programme.

9. Does IBTC give discounts on Hotel Packages ?

Ans. Yes IBTC does give discounts on hotels Packages for instance. The Ramada Caravala Package for 3 nights and 4 days is Rs. 12,999/-. The IBTC rate is Rs. 6,500/- . This rate is applicable for the month of October 2004.The same is an indicative rate of what is applicable as far as packages are concerned.
The Package includes the following:
    - Accommodation in well appointed air-conditioned Standard Room.
    - All presently applicable taxes.
    - Two way Airport/Margao railway station transfers by coach.
    - Welcome drink (non-alcoholic) on arrival. Buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner. Complimentary use       of in room tea/coffee maker – Replenishment once a day.
    - Additional requirement will be on chargeable basis.
    - Two children below 12 yrs. stay free on plan in the same room as parents Supplement charge for       extra bed applicable if required.
    - Complimentary use of Gymnasium, Steam. Sauna once during the stay with prior appointment.
    - 20% discount on Indoor/ Outdoor recreational facilities.
    - Happy hours from 6.30 p.m. to 8.30. p.m. daily at Saturday’s – our discotheque with 25% discount       on all beverages & D.J. Music.
    - One alcoholic drink (30ml) house brands or 1 pint beer per person free after 10 p.m. at Goa.
      Nugget with chips worth Rs. 100 once during the stay.
    - Half day sight seeing of Old Goa followed by Mandovi river cruise once during the stay.

10. What is the membership fee of IBTC Silver card ?

Ans. The membership fee of the IBTC Silver card is Rs. 10,000/- for 3 years.

11. Can we stay for any amount of nights for 3 years by paying the membership fee ?

Ans. By paying the membership fee you can stay for any amount of nights for 3 years till you spend Rs. 70,000/-. The amount of Rs. 70,000/- is calculated on the discounted rate and not on the rack rate.
Please see example of Hotel Maurya Sheraton below Rack rate is Rs. 7000/- plus 12.5% tax i.e. Rs. 7,875/-. You can get a 62.5% discount; you will have to pay only Rs. 3,500. Here, you can save Rs. 4,375/-.

12. Is there any amount to be paid for registering as registration fees ?

Ans. Yes, there is a one-time registration fee of Rs. 1000/- to be paid.

13. Is there any amount to be paid as security deposit ?

Ans. Yes, there is an amount to be paid for the security deposit of Rs. 5000/-.

14. Is this amount of Rs. 5000/- security deposit refundable ?

Ans. Yes, the amount of Rs. 5000/- is refundable when you cease to be a member i.e. if you do not renew after 3 years. However, if you do renew after 3 years this amount of security deposit is carried forward and hence not refundable.

15. Why is the security deposit taken ?

Ans. The security deposit is taken as assurity against bookings made for members through their credit cards, as the card payment can be declined.

16. Why does one have to pay for their spouse ?

Ans. Since everyone is not married the membership fee has been reduced to Rs 10,000/- otherwise the membership fee is Rs. 12,000/- with spouse.

17. Why does one have to pay am amount for their children ?

Ans. One has to pay an amount for their children since everyone doesn’t have children. Therefore the membership fee has been reduced to 10,000/- and not inclusive of the membership fee for their children.

18. If one makes their children as members do they have to travel with them ?

Ans. If the member makes his children members, they do not have to travel with him.

19. If one makes his/her spouse a member does he/she have to travel with his or her spouse only?

Ans. If the member makes his/her spouse a member then, he need not travel with his/ her spouse.

20. If the member has not made his/her spouse as members would he still be entitles to a double room ?

Ans. If the member has not made his/her spouse a member he shall not be entitled to a double room.

21. Can a member book more than one room ?

Ans. No, the member cannot book more than one room.

22. In the case of booking of a Car Rental the booking is made by a member, there are non members traveling too. Would the 50% discount still apply ?

Ans. Yes, the discount shall still apply. As it is for booking the entire vehicle.

23. How can payment for the membership be made ?

Ans. Payment for the membership fee can be made through cash (in India) cheque, demand draft for faster processing and by credit card.
    - For payment, the member can deposit the cash in the ICICI Bank account number
      000405011421. After depositing the amount the copy of the Pay In slip needs to be sent along
      with the IBTC application form along with a photograph of all the members joining (Main member
      and Add on card member).
    - If paying by cheque or the demand draft the same needs to be drawn on “International Business
      Traveler’s Club”.
    - If paying through the credit card please fill in your credit card details i.e. The card number along
      with the expiry date. If paying by Diners Club you would have to give us the three digits given on
      the back of your credit card called Computer Verification number or C.V.Number.
    - All credit cards are accepted Master/Visa/American Express/Diners Club. For JCB (Japan Credit
      Bureau to log onto our website for the online payment gateway.)
    - Payment can be made online through the online payment gateway and
      through your credit card or through your bank account.

24. Does one have to give their PAN number ?

Ans. Yes, one has to give their PAN number to expedite the verification process.

25. Does one have to give their passport number ?

Ans. Yes, one has to give their passport number. However, if one doesn’t have a passport they need to fill N. A. If their passport number has been sent for renewal they can send us their expired passport number. When their new passport is received they need to inform us the new passport number.

26. What is FF Membership ?

Ans. FF Membership is the frequent fliers membership of Indian airlines and Air India.

27. What is C. V. No.?

Ans. C. V. No. means computer verification number. The number needs to be put only if you are paying by Diners Club credit card. If you are paying by your Master/Visa or Amex credit card you need not give the C.V. number at the back of your credit card.

28. Where does one sign ?

Ans. At the bottom left hand corner of the form.

29. What if I want to increase the spending limit ?

Ans. If a member wants to increase their spending limit they can do so by paying an additional amount of Rs. 20,000/-. Their limit thereafter will increase from Rs. 70,000/- to Rs. 1,40,000/-.

30. Where is IBTC headquartered ?

Ans. IBTC is not headquartered at one place. It was started in 1987 in Leicester, U.K. and in Mumbai simultaneously.

31. Who heads the operation in India ?

Ans. Ms. Bertha Martin our CEO, India Operations heads the operations in India.

32. Who heads the organization in U.K. ?

Ans. Ms. Theresa Mendes heads the operations in U.K.

33. What are the types of hotels which are listed under the Silver card ?

Ans. The types of hotels listed under the Silver card range from 1 Star to 5 Star. Please see the list of hotels in the hotel list.

34. How does IBTC offer a 90% discount ?

Ans. IBTC offers a 90% discount as it pays the taxes and service charges for you. The tax in Chennai is 35% of the rack rate. Therefore one can receive a 90% off on their stay. The tax in Dubai is 20%. Therefore one receives a 70% off in Dubai.

35. IBTC offers a guaranteed 50% discount on Car Rentals how ?

Ans. The Car Rental Company does not give a 50% discount. As a member you pay a 50% discounted rate to IBTC. IBTC then pays the remaining 50% to the Car Rental Company. Therefore the Car Rental Company does not offer a 50% discount IBTC does!

36. Does IBTC offer discount on F & B ?

Ans. Yes, IBTC offers discounts on F & B if they are a part of the package. Please check Ramada Caravela package which is applicable on meals, sightseeing, pick up and drop from Airport etc. as far as hotels situated at Business locations the IBTC members can avail of various added benefits such as:
   A) Guaranteed accommodation if reservation is received 72 hours prior to scheduled arrival.
   B) Pre-registration if data is provided in advance.
   C) Express check-in.
   D) Welcome drink.
   E) Daily morning or afternoon paper.
   F) Weekly magazines.
   G) Personalized stationery.
   H) Fruit baskets or flowers.
   I) Complimentary bottle of wine or spirit.
   J) Complimentary breakfast.
   K) Special soap and toiletries.
   L) Upgrade to next better category of room on availability.
   M) Complimentary use of health club facilities/sauna/indoor/pool/tennis courts/squash court.

37. What are Restaurant promotions ?

Ans. Restaurant promotions are discounts offered at Restaurants from time to time. However, by Promotion IBTC means that the discount is not for all the year round.

38. Does IBTC plan to have a full-fledged restaurant section ?

Ans. Yes, IBTC plans to have a full fledged restaurant section.

39. What is the usual IBTC privilege ?

Ans. Please see the usual IBTC privileges given in point Q.No. 36.

40. Is the Overseas Mediclaim application for those residing in a country outside India ?

Ans. No, the Overseas Mediclaim is applicable for those residing in India only.

41. Is the free Overseas Mediclaim applicable for all the 3 years ?

Ans. No, the Overseas Mediclaim is only applicable for once and for 15 days.

42. Is the Overseas Mediclaim applicable for all the Add on cards ?

Ans. No, the Free Mediclaim is applicable only for primary the cardholders. The Add on cardholders do not receive a free Overseas Mediclaim.

43. Which company issues the Free Overseas Mediclaim ?

Ans. The New India Assurance Co. Ltd. issues the free Overseas Mediclaim.

44. When filling the application form, does one have to send their photograph ?

Ans. When filling the application form one has to send their photograph, as the IBTC Silver card is a mandatory photo card.

45. How does one make a booking or reserve a room ?

Ans.
   1. All bookings are made through IBTC only and not through the hotel. One cannot go to the hotel
       directly and demand a 50% discount. The IBTC identity card is to show and identify yourself as a
       IBTC member at the time of check in. Whereby an imposter cannot use the IBTC benefits. As an
       IBTC Silver card member you will not receive the discount from the hotel directly. The hotels do        not give the discount, IBTC does! IBTC pays the remaining 50% discount for you.
   2. Reservation forms are supplied to you with your membership. As an IBTC member you need to fill        the reservation form and fax the same to us. The Form can also be sent through email.
   3. Once IBTC receives the faxed reservation form, IBTC checks for the availability with the hotel. If        there is an availability IBTC makes a reservation. IBTC debits your credit card and sends you a
       confirmation. The confirmation voucher is a fully paid confirmation voucher for stay which you, as        an IBTC member needs to take to the hotel. With the paid confirmation voucher you would not        have to pay anything at the hotel as far as the room rent and taxes. If there are any additional        benefits the same shall be informed to you in the confirmation voucher such as free airport pick        up and drop.
   4. You can receive a confirmation voucher within half an hour as far as hotels situated in business        locations are concerned.
   5. As far as resort locations are concerned you could receive a confirmation within 24 hours of
       receipt of your reservation request.
   6. Once you receive a confirmation voucher from IBTC you can head straight for the hotel or resort.

46. Why doesn’t IBTC have offices all over India ?

47. Does IBTC offer discounts on Airlines ?

Ans. No, IBTC currently does not offer discounts on Airlines. However, IBTC plans to have airline promotions soon.

48. Is IBTC a non-profit organization ?

Ans. It is a Club, which caters to the needs of travelers with various issues concerning the hospitality industry and anything facilitating travel i.e. Aviation, Car Rental, Travel Insurance, Visas, Immigration, and many more.

49. Does Citibank Mastercard holders receive a free membership of IBTC Silver ?

Ans. IBTC is no longer connected with Citibank. Therefore Citibank Mastercard holders are no longer IBTC Card holders.

50. Does Citibank Visacard holders receive a free membership of IBTC Silver ?

Ans. IBTC is no longer connected with Citibank. Therefore Citibank Visacard holders are no longer IBTC Card holders.

51. Does Citibank Diners Club cardholders receive a free membership of IBTC Silver ?

Ans. IBTC is no longer connected with Citibank. Therefore Citibank Diners Club holders are no longer IBTC Card holders.

52. Does Bobcard Master cardholders receive a free membership of IBTC Silver ?
